Module 1: Foundations of Attachment Theory

- Key concepts: Secure base, internal working models, proximity maintenance
- Types of attachment: Secure, Avoidant, Ambivalent, Disorganized
- Neurobiological basis of attachment and emotional regulation
- Cultural and social influences on attachment formation
Module 2: Attachment Across the Lifespan
- Development of attachment in infancy, childhood, and adolescence
- Adult attachment styles and their influence on relationships and identity
- Impact of early attachment experiences on emotional well-being
- Intergenerational transmission of attachment patterns
- Recognizing attachment-related disruptions in different age groups
Module 3: Core Therapeutic Approaches in ABT
- Goals and process of Attachment-Based Therapy
- Techniques to repair attachment injuries and foster emotional regulation
- Working with insecure and disorganized attachment patterns
- Integrating ABT with other modalities (e.g., psychodynamic, IFS, EFT)
- Ethical considerations and boundaries in attachment-based work
Module 4: Special Populations and Clinical Applications
- Attachment in children from adoption, foster care, and trauma backgrounds
- Addressing attachment wounds in adult clients and couples
- Working with attachment in high-conflict families and parent-child dyads
- Cultural, gender, and social dimensions in attachment-based interventions
Practical Application (Weeks 5 & 6)
There will be no theory lectures during these two weeks. Instead, students will work on a faculty-assigned practical component to integrate and apply the concepts learned in a structured manner.
Possible practical activities may include:
- A guided case study with analysis and intervention planning
- Designing an ABT-informed treatment plan
- Role-play or mock session analysis with supervision
- Reflective assignment based on clinical scenarios
Each participant will receive individualized feedback from the instructor.
Please Note: Original Tests will not be provided. Training will be given on all the tests mentioned above along with case studies and practice.
